KIMPTON ROUGE All Kimpton hotels are renown for the their
friendliness towards pets that goes way beyond dogs. The Kimpton
corporate pet policy welcomes any “furry, feathery or scaly family
member — no matter their size, weight, or breed, all at no extra
charge” … and we even know someone who kept a lion cub in their
room at one Los Angeles location! The Rouge near Dupont Circle is no
different, and four-legged guests are welcomed by name upon check-
in, get loaned food, water bowls and mats, plus free poop bags. A
concierge can recommend pet friendly spots, and they’re even invited
to a nightly wine reception to meet other furry guests.
HOTEL MADERA Another Kimpton location also near Dupont
Circle, the Madera has an old-fashioned Spanish vibe compared to
the Rouge’s chic modernity. What remains the same, however, is the
open door pet policy. One recent reviewer who brought a puppy and
a parrot said the rooms were “big enough to play fetch.”
THE FAIRMONT WASHINGTON, D.C. The Fairmont in
Georgetown has a VID (Very Important Dog) policy that ensures
canine guests are greeted with healthy treats (handmade by the
Executive Pastry Chef), bottled water and a placemat. Not-so-lucky
pooches benefit too, as the “It’s a Dog’s World Package” donates five
percent of each room rate when the reservation includes a pet to the
Washington Animal Rescue League. Other pet perks include walking
maps to nearby parks (there’s one just a block away), a list of pet
friendly restaurants, cafes and stores, plus loaner leashes and collars.
Customized door tags let housekeepers know if you’re out on walkies
or warns if “animal companion napping.”

loaners of beds, toys, litter boxes and scratching posts (yes, cats are
welcome too — Loews doesn’t discriminate). If your hound doesn’t
want to go out to dine, room service menus are available that have
been specially curated by the Executive Chefs and a licensed vet.
