Each year as the cherry blossoms and stubbornly cool weather give way to long,
sun-filled days, the Washington, D.C., area comes to life with a vibrant array of
celebrations reflective of our nation’s history and rich diversity.
In a region long known for its museums, monuments and patriotic pomp, the Airports
Authority is excited to welcome America’s game to Washington, D.C., for the 89th Annual
Major League Baseball All-Star Game. This issue of #FlyWashington magazine showcases
Washington’s home team and provides fans of all ages a behind-the-scenes pass to the
week’s events.
Beyond the ballpark, summer welcomes an influx of visitors for citywide events like
Capital Pride, the Smithsonian Folklife Festival, the D.C. Jazz Festival and Independence
Day. And as an Airports Authority, we’re proud to recognize and celebrate the history of
our nation while promoting an inclusive environment for all our passengers.
At our Airports, summertime is no different—which is why we’re working hard to ensure
your journey through our Airports is as welcoming, enjoyable and memorable as your visit
to the region. At Dulles International, inventive amenities like in-airport sleep and work
stations and valet parking coupled with new low-cost international service on Volaris and
Primera Air are expanding the convenience and accessibility of air tra vel. And at Reagan
National, comprehensive customer service efforts are assisting travelers as Project
Journey—our major construction improvement project—changes the way people
navigate roadways and terminal buildings.
We hope you enjoy this issue of #FlyWashington magazine and your journey through our
Airports. On behalf of all Airports Authority employees and partners, thank you for making
Reagan National and Dulles International your gateway to the National Capital Region.
