HOW TO PACK LIGHT
When travelling, do you like to carry your whole wardrobe? Well, traveling with just a carry-on can change your whole travel experience. Only pack must have items and skip the rest. Depending on the length of your trip, only pack for a week and re-wear your clothes. If you have a bulky sweater or jacket, wear it on the plane and only bring one extra pair of shoes.
Remember, there are rules for carry-on baggage. The dimensions can be no larger than 22” x 14” x 9” and liquids must be in a clear quart-sized bag and no larger than 3.4 fl oz( 100 ml) each, and these must be packed in your luggage. Airlines allow you one personal item that will fit under your seat, such as a purse or duffle bag.
HOW TO HANDLE WEATHER DELAYS
We’ ve all been there; your flight has been delayed or worse, cancelled, due to weather. Knowing more about what options you may have is an important step to getting your travel itinerary back on track. Here’ s what to do.
1. Know the Customer Service phone number for your airline and download the airline app to your mobile device. Having the app will help you to rebook your flight. 2. Be flexible. If your plans are disrupted, switching to another airport close by or connecting may be worth it. For instance, if flying from DCA to TPA( Tampa) but your flight was cancelled, an option might be IAD to MCO( Orlando) and renting a car. Also consider being added to the standby list for your airline if your itinerary is for a later flight. 3. Carry-on— make sure if you have a carry-on bag, you keep your essential items in there( medications, baby supplies, travel documents). 4. And remember, most airlines do not cover hotel stays or meals during weather delays. This is a great time to explore the shops and dining options throughout both IAD and DCA.
