Welcome to America’ s National Capital Region.
Spring and summer have a way of shifting our perspective. The days feel longer. The pace changes. Travel begins to take on a different rhythm. Whether you are planning a long-awaited international trip or rediscovering places closer to home, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority is pleased to welcome you through Reagan National and Dulles International airports.
In this issue of Fly Washington, we travel across Asia to Taipei, Tokyo and Seoul, three cities that balance history and modern life in distinct ways. From night markets and temples in Taipei to the quiet gardens and vibrant neighborhoods of Tokyo to the dynamic blend of tradition and global culture in Seoul, these destinations offer experiences that unfold gradually and reward curiosity.
Closer to home, we highlight Navy Yard, one of Washington’ s most dynamic neighborhoods and home to our own Washington Nationals baseball team. An area once defined by its naval roots is now a lively waterfront area where parks, restaurants and local gathering spaces create a sense of place that continues to evolve. It is a reminder travel does not always require going far to discover something new.
You also will notice continued changes across both airports. At Reagan National, new local favorites such as Colada Shop are helping bring more of the region’ s character into the terminal. At Dulles International, Concourse E continues to take shape, introducing new dining, retail and passenger spaces designed to better serve domestic and international travelers.
These additions reflect a broader goal. Our airports are not only gateways, but also an introduction to the people, culture and creativity of this region. Each improvement is intended to make your time here more comfortable, more efficient and more connected to the many experiences this region has to offer.
Wherever your travels take you this season, we hope this issue offers ideas and inspiration for the journeys ahead.
