“ NAOMI ” THE EXHIBIT
London ’ s renowned Victoria & Albert Museum will honor Campbell with a prestigious exhibit titled “ NAOMI .” Scheduled to run from June 22 , 2024 , to April 6 , 2025 , the exhibit celebrates the unequaled 40-year career of fashion model and British icon Naomi Campbell and her transformative influence on fashion and culture . Through iconic runway moments , groundbreaking covers , and memorable collaborations , “ NAOMI ” pays tribute to Campbell ’ s legacy as a trailblazer , setting new standards of beauty , diversity , and empowerment . This historic exhibit not only marks Campbell as the first-ever fashion model to receive such recognition at the museum , but it also highlights the significant impact of models in shaping the narrative of fashion history .
The exhibit promises to be a unique and immersive experience curated in collaboration with Campbell herself . Drawing upon her extensive wardrobe of haute couture and ready-to-wear ensembles , along with pieces from designer archives and the V & A collection , “ NAOMI ” will feature around 100 looks showcasing the best of global high fashion . The exhibition also recognizes Campbell ’ s mentors , including prominent public figures such as Nelson Mandela , who opened Campbell ’ s eyes to social injustice and went on to inspire her to use her platform for social change . Campbell has long advocated for equity , joining the Black Girls Coalition in 1989 and fronting the 2007 ‘ Black issue ’ of Vogue Italia . Along with models Iman and Bethann Hardison , she has campaigned for The Diversity Coalition since 2013 to champion diversity on the catwalk . The exhibition will also spotlight her active support of emerging creatives through events such as Arise Fashion Week and her global initiative EMERGE , founded in 2022 .
