PETALPALOOZA
Petalpalooza kicks off on April 6 at the Capitol Riverfront Navy Yard Metro as an all-ages live music and attractions extravaganza . Activities include interactive art installations , roaming performers , and hands-on activities that meld music , art , and play on multiple outdoor stages . It all unfolds along the shoreline of the Anacostia River with the Official National Cherry Blossom Festival Fireworks Show set to music and starting at 8:30 pm .
BLOSSOM KITE FESTIVAL
Head to the Washington Monument for an exciting presentation of kites , competitions , music , and performances on March 30 . Activities include the Sakura Taiko Fest , a day-long demonstration of traditional Japanese drumming at Sylvan Theater . Mikio Toki , an Edo kite master , showcases his kites for attendees ; Team Kite Life , Wings Over Washington , and other professional kite fliers unleash choreographed kite performances and
demonstrations . Music by Guava Jelly , Ian Carroll , and Not A Saint Band round out the events . This year ’ s adult and youth kitemakers competition theme is “ Colors of the Wind .”
TIDAL BASIN WELCOME AREA AND ANA STAGE
View the cherry trees in peak bloom while absorbing entertainment from American , Japanese , and other cultures during the peak bloom prediction dates at West Basin Drive SW . Experience a cross-cultural showcase from over 100 performers representing a variety of genres , including jazz , pop , R & B , rock , and bluegrass , as well as international dance styles like flamenco , Japanese , Indian , tap , clogging , and Colombian .
