For many, embarking on a new year brings hopes of change and excitement–resolving
to prioritize health, professional development and even leisure travel. And at the
Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, 2018 holds special promise.
At Ronald Reagan National Airport, the New Year brings changes as Project Journey
construction shifts traffic patterns, arrivals pick-up locations and in-terminal passenger
flow. But through our efforts–and your patience–the changes planned will transform the
passenger experience while making the Airport more convenient and easier
to navigate.

At Washington Dulles International Airport, too, goals set and goals accomplished have
improved its competitiveness, convenience and connectivity. Domestic and international
passenger growth, along with cost control efforts, have made the Airport more attractive
for airlines–resulting in more choice for travelers. And as the region’s gat eway to the
world, Dulles International continues to add new airlines and routes to destinations
worldwide, including Cathay Pacific’s recently announced service to Hong Kong
onboard its first Airbus A350-1000.
Another exciting initiative taking flight is the Airport Innovation Challenge, a startup
competition launched with the high-tech business startup firm 1776 to develop
technologies and services that enhance the passenger experience. Through such efforts,
the Airports Authority is working to anticipate the demands of a new generation of airport
travelers as air travel becomes a vital part of modern life. So as we embark on another
year, read on to learn more about the ambitious plans the Airports Authority has to
improve your experience and choice.
We hope you enjoy this issue of #FlyWashington magazine–and whether a frequent
traveler, or visiting for the Cherry Blossom Festival, we hope you enjoy your journey
through our Airports. On behalf of all Airports Authority employees and partners,
thank you for choosing Reagan National and Dulles International Airports as your
gateway to the National Capital Region and the world.
