Built in downtown Palm Springs by the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians as part of a new Cultural Plaza designed to celebrate the Tribe ’ s history , culture , traditions , and modern-day life , the soul of The Spa at Séc-he is an ancient hot mineral spring . Located 8,000 feet below ground , unconnected to any other water source in the Coachella Valley , and fed by a natural pipeline , from which it absorbs minerals such as calcium , magnesium , and sodium on its 1.5-mile journey before cooling to about 105 degrees as it reaches the desert floor . The hot mineral spring takes center stage in various ways at the Spa at Séc-he , ranging from hot mineral baths to mineral water yoga . In addition to the spring , the spa offers practically every other service imaginable , from a full menu of individual and couples massages , facials , body scrubs , and wraps to cryotherapy , flotation therapy , and IV and vitamin therapy . The result ? A literal oasis right in the heart of the desert .
Another recent addition to the Palm Springs wellness landscape is the Sensei Porcupine Creek . Formerly the private home of co-owner , Oracle founder , and technology pioneer Larry Ellison , this much soughtafter estate , located in a quiet pocket of Rancho Mirage , has been transformed into a luxury wellness retreat like no other in the desert .
