DINING
Many of the restaurants in Reston Town Center are familiar to D.C.
locals, as some of the District’s most popular have locations here, but
just a fraction of the crowds and ample parking.
Davelle Clothiers
A foodie favorite, Barcelona Wine Bar is a hip tapas bar with an award-
winning wine selection. Its main source of warmth, however, is the
inviting interior of rustic, wood walls and the long, U-shaped bar great
for both mingling and people-watching. A rotating seasonal menu of
Spanish-inspired charcuterie and tapas features local ingredients, and
the patatas bravas — baked camembert with truffle honey — is an
absolute must, particularly on the outdoor patio overlooking the park.
Next door, bartaco sports a beachy, California vibe that extends to the
menu of fresh, creative tacos in more than a dozen styles, including
baja fish, roasted duck, and falafel, plus an array of complex cocktails.
Unique to Reston Town Center is Tavern 64, a restaurant built around
sustainable farming and seasonal ingredients. Suppliers from small
towns throughout northern Virginia and Maryland are listed on the
menu and scrawled on a chalkboard by the kitchen window. Visit for
its tasty brunch buffet, or try one of its many delectable eggs Benedict
concoctions like “The Surf Benedict,” which tops fresh English muffins
with Maryland crab cakes, poached eggs, and a light, savory tomato
Hollandaise sauce.
A little more formal, yet still relaxed, Mon Ami Gabi is an upscale French-
style steakhouse with an old-world Parisian feel. Its specialty is the prime
steak frites, which can be served five ways, from “classique” with butter
to “Roquefort,” smothered in blue cheese sauce. Another favorite is the
signature onion soup au gratin, baked with gruyère cheese.
Balducci’s Food Lover’s Market has a dizzying selection of premium
ingredients, including imported olive oil and hard-to-find wines. For an
indulgent picnic spread, choose pair a bottle with the many cheeses or
olives from the olive bar. You can also find sweet confections, such as
macarons and baklava, at the market’s bakery.
Finally, a stroll throughout Reston Town Center would not be complete
without a generous serving of gelato from Pitango, another D.C. gem.
Flavors alternate almost daily, and while the entire menu is exceptional,
a few flavors are especially memorable — the dark and intense Sur
del Lago chocolate sorbet, the subtle and creamy cardamom, and the
savory-sweet halvah and pistachio, which has bits of the Middle Eastern
sesame confection blended with roasted pistachios.
SHOPPING
Reston Town Center’s walkable design is complemented by an
assortment of upscale boutiques and brand-name stores, making it a
great destination for a leisurely afternoon of shopping.
South Moon Under, which started back in 1968 as a small surf shack
in Ocean City, Maryland, has evolved into an upscale boutique
with elevated bohemian clothing for women and men. Today it has
more than 30 locations with unique garments and accessories from
emerging designers and established fashion brands. At Scout and
Molly’s Boutique, find chic, brightly colored women’s apparel and
accessories, from dresses and jewelry to shoes and baseball caps.
Visitors in the market for high-quality men’s clothing should stop
by Davelle Clothiers, a local, family-run shop that has been a D.C.
institution for 28 years, with custom-tailored suits, ties, and shoes. The
Reston Town Center is also home to familiar upscale brands such as
Apple, Anthropologie, Kendra Scott and JoS. A. Bank Clothiers.

ENTERTAINMENT
The events calendar at Reston Town Center is consistently full.
Contemporary art exhibitions are on display at the Greater Reston
Arts Center, featuring work from local and national artists that rotates
every two to three months. The arts center also hosts regular family
craft days, meditation workshops, and interviews with artists and D.C.
museum curators.
Reston Town Center’s open-air Pavilion brings plenty of energy and
cheer, particularly Tuesdays from April to November with the Farmers
& Makers Market, stocked with fresh produce, meats, cheeses, olive
oil, honey, pet accessories, baked goods, crafts, and more. In winter,
the pavilion transforms into an ice skating rink, complete with rentals
and lessons daily.
Film buffs will enjoy the ArtInsights Animation and Film Art Gallery,
whose walls are filled from floor to ceiling with framed lithographs,
sketches, and original art from Disney, Star Wars, and Harry Potter
films. If you still need a movie fix, Bow Tie Cinemas plays popular
blockbusters and the occasional classic film in a laid-back setting. Plush
leather seats provide a welcome break from walking, and a full bar
serves wine, beer, and cocktails.
