PULL
26 YEARS OF PULLING PLANES FOR
SPECIAL OLYMPICS VIRGINIA
The 2018 Dulles Day Festival and Plane Pull and Dulles 5k/10k on the
Runway is set for Saturday, September 15, 2018. The day starts with
the 6th Annual Run the Runway competition in the early morning and
the 26th Annual Plane Pull takes place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with
food, games, exhibitions, and live music in between. It’s human versus
machine, and a whole lot more. The Dulles Day Plane Pull raises money
for Special Olympics Virginia and the inspiring athletes who compete.
The Dulles Day Festival and Plane Pull has grown into a full day of
competition, food, and games with approximately 15,000 people in
attendance each year. In 2017, the event raised more than $375,000 for
Special Olympics Virginia and totaling over $2,400,000 for athletes with
intellectual disabilities in Virginia since its creation.
Visit www.planepull.com for more information on the Dulles Day
Festival and Plane Pull.
The Dulles 5k/10k on the Runway is the flattest, fastest race course in
the area. The race begins at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center (located
in Chantilly, VA, and part of the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space
Museum) and continues onto a runway at Dulles International Airport,
but don’t worry, no planes will be landing on that runway! Get a
unique look at the airport grounds, run past planes and along the
actual landing strip on this certified looped course. 2,500 runners and
walkers can choose to compete in either a 5k or 10k race. There are
water stations available throughout the course to stay hydrated, and
all proceeds benefit Special Olympics Virginia, the Committee for Dulles
Community, the Committee for Dulles Community Outreach, and the
Washington Airports Task Force.
Visit www.dullesrunwayrun.com for detailed information on the race
and how to sign up. The Dulles 5K/10K is one of the most exclusive
races in the metro area, and registration fills up quickly, so don’t delay.
