definitely hope to see some major roles in my future.” Norman has another vision for his post-NFL days, one that he’s also already taking steps to accomplish. He’s dedicated to using his wealth to give back through his Starz24 Foundation, a nonprofit set-up in his hometown of Greenwood, South Carolina. With a focus on at-risk youth, the foundation offers programs for kids and their families, a support system to help encourage self-discipline with an emphasis on fitness, teamwork and interpersonal skills. In June, Norman also had a kick off event in the D.C. area at The Hawthorne, on U Street in northwest D.C. Josh Norman with fans in D.C. He’s got a bigger plan in the works as well. “My greatest goals for myself, after my career, stem around my community, [with the development of] recreation centers in my community and communities around the nation. I understand I have a responsibility to do far more than just play football, but to change lives. There is so much need out there,” he emphasized to us. “I am already in the process of planning for one of the largest recreation centers in my region. It will be a focused leadership and wellness complex where kids can not only excel through sports, but through a variety of disciplines that help them dream responsibly, [then] gain the skills and find the resources they need to do whatever they set out to do.” In his off time, he’s been working to settle into his new home. Living on an estate in Northern Virginia, with “room for my horses,” he’s already found some favorite things about living in the D.C. area, as he recently told #FlyWashington. “DC Prime [in Virginia] is my favorite restaurant,” he said, adding that he’s also a fan of working out at the Redskins Training Facility. But the handsome bachelor admits to us that there’s something else that makes Washington so appealing — its regular nonstop flights out of Dulles Airport to his favorite place on the planet. Norman is putting those collegiate drama courses to good use as he builds his post-playing broadcast career. He’s been parlaying his on-camera skills by starring in television commercials and tells us that “my plan is to continue to be in the broadcasting mix, definitely acting is in those plans. As a theatrical drama major, I know I can act and perform so, I “I love Paris, France,” Norman said (although he spent his recent off- season vacation in Barcelona and Ibiza, Spain). “No matter how many times I visit, I still absolutely just love that place. I try to experience the history and explore the city.” Once Josh Norman finishes burning up the NFL — and (hopefully) reaches his goal of winning a Super Bowl ring while wearing a Washington Redskins uniform — Number 24 may just disappear into the sunset on a jumbo jet. “I want to travel across the world. That’s my bucket list!” he reveals with a grin. AUTUMN 2017 7 FLYWASHINGTON.COM
