ON THE RUNWAY

Five years ago Carol Welti of the Washington Airports Task Force had an idea to enhance the Dulles Day Plane Pull ® by adding a 5k on the runway. A 10k was added the second year and today the Dulles Day 5k / 10k on the Runway is the flattest, fastest race course in the area. The race begins at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center( located in Chantilly, VA, and part of the Smithsonian’ s National Air and Space Museum) and continues onto a runway at Dulles International Airport, but don’ t worry, no planes will be landing on this route! Get a unique look at the airport grounds, run past planes and along the actual landing strip on this certified looped course. 2,500 runners and walkers can choose to compete in either a 5k or 10k race. All proceeds benefit Special Olympics Virginia, the Committee for Dulles Community Outreach, and the Washington Airports Task Force.
Visit www. dullesrunwayrun. org for detailed information on the race and how to sign up. The Dulles 5K / 10K is one of the most exclusive races in the metro area, and registration fills up quickly, so don’ t delay.
