"Red Wing Black Bird in the Rain"

Kate Scowsmith

Keep You Mine

By Jake Smith

You told me that you did not like the sun

And that you needed clouds to feel okay.

You don’t think going on a walk is fun

So you just sit in your room every day.

I bought you flowers trying to be sweet,

But you threw them out since they made you sneeze.

I try every day to get you to eat,

But you push it away, despite my pleas.

You won’t see a doctor or get support

Because you are so afraid of defeat.

I know you think you’re as strong as a fort,

But right now you are barely a heartbeat.

I love you so I’ll pretend it’s all fine

As I block out the sun, and keep you mine.
