Flumes Vol. 4: Issue 1, Summer 2019 | Page 47

I am oppression

I am hatred and I am silent

I say nothing and watch it happen

I despise jazz and marijuana because white women and black men

should never love each other

I think true love is only for those that agree with me, with my approval,

on my terms

I am oppression

I hate that fuckin barrio and those illegal mexicans, stealing our jobs

Police found one of them hoarding 1966 jobs in his trailer

Ought to send his ass back home where he belongs

Serves him right if he can't speak English

And now they got your kids learning spanish

And all these illegals kids keep showing up

Using all my tax dollars for their free school lunches

I am oppression

I think emotional trauma is bullshit

I abandon teaching the troubled youth because they fail anyways

I cut the funding for their schools because they are unimportant

I don't give a damn about their future, because my now is what matters

I am oppression

I am calling the police--I think the neighbors are selling drugs.

I have no proof, but they are black and keep to themselves.

I think people should just be happy and not look for an escape

I imprison your children and leave them to die.

I think drug addicts do it to themselves, but crazy people should be force

fed real medicine.

I am oppression.

I hope nobody says anything.

I hope nobody asks why.

I hope nobody wonders why they are undeserving.

I censor and squash any voice that disagrees with me. Watch for people

who speak out--they are dangerous and crazy.
