Yellow Tree

By Fanni Somogyi

She is rooted to the dunes,

a tall yellow willow tree.

She transforms light to love.

She caresses the sea, and

she kisses the sky.

A part of our mother

is a part of ourselves.

I inherited the sigh and the hair,

and also, the can-do attitude.

I branch off of her body,

her lineage.

Do you love me?

Or are you simply love?

When the clouds start moving again,

the growing pain resumes

and the shores continues to erode.
