I try to stay regularly medicated, yes.
A drink or two now and then,
A bottle or two of Riesling if I’m bored.
Marijuana helps me sleep,
Coffee in the morning,
An apple a day… you know,
That sort of thing.
Occasionally, I’ll eat a lot of rot
And then I’ll starve it off.
Oh, and I try to smoke at least one cigarette each day.
It keeps me honest…
O, happy apples.
Green and sour.
Bitter bites of waxy skin.
Remember the plight of Snow White,
Remember the snake, Ladon, who twitched
And then no more.
I dreamt my teacher bit into one
And screamed and spit out
A bloodied worm…
I don’t feel as good as I used to.
The original sin is catching up with me,
Because, fortunately, no father
Baptized my baby soul in dogma,
But maybe impiety catches up
To the heathen sons of holy men,
Maybe it manifests in ulcers and intestinal pain,
Migraines and the mental rains,
But what do I know…
