Convém notar que no verso da folha se lê
«Fragment | A. Search». Esta será uma nota
autónoma, uma vez que o conjunto de fragmentos
de Alexander Search ia incluir pequenas
composições líricas, mas a indicação sugere a
proximidade da produção inglesa em prosa e verso;
muitos poemas de 1906-1907 foram atribuídos
por Pessoa a «A. Search» e partilham os temas de
várias ficções desses anos.
O escrito antecipa porventura a estética do
sonho que também se pode encontrar no Livro do
Desassossego e testemunha o interesse de Pessoa
pela filosofia e, em particular, pela metafísica,
durante os primeiros anos em Lisboa, após o seu
regresso de Durban (África do Sul).
