Flowers which we express our feelings comfortably with have always been valuable in Turkish culture.
In old times people used them to make peole aware of the situation in their homes.The yellow flower placed in front of the window meant there was a patient in the house and it was a kind way of asking the passersby to be quiet and not to disturb the patient. If it was a red one,it meant there was a single girl in the house and it was a kind warning to the passersby to be careful about their words.
Flowers were also included in the letters that were written frequently in the past.
For example: May Rose meant ‘You are beautiful’, Jasmine meant’ I love you’, Violet meant’ Our love is just beginning’.
Since old times carpets have been decorated with flower motifs so that the hand-made carpets look beautiful.
Flowers have always been mentioned in Turkish Literature and folk songs. Rose represents the lover,the daisy represents elegance and the tulip represents nobility.
English Thomas Allom, one of the Istanbul painters, who spoke admiringly about the gardens of Istanbul and the flowers grown in these places. He explains that almost every house in Istanbul in the 19th century house gardens in which various trees and

The artist covers the landscape where Turks will highly value the flower, especially the rose, as well as giving birth to a language of flowers among the Turks, in which they see an unique expression of each flower. According to Allom, the hope of orange blossom, the despair of velvet, the remnant of cockscomb, the infidelity of tulips and the bouquets of flowers called "greetings" fill the place of his letters, telling the lovers to work against their lovers.
Atatürk gave the order to establish a large farm in order to lead the development of the country's agriculture, and he preferred a land where not even trees could grow for this farm. Atatürk, who was personally interested in the establishment works, bought 20 thousand decares of land from Abidin Pasha's wife Faika Hanım in 1925. There were parks and vegetable gardens on this land. A rather high price was paid for the land. This high price acted as an incentive for the owners of other idle lands in the surrounding area. Like this; Etimesgut, Balgat, Güvercinlik, Macun, Çakkır, Tahar and Yağmur Baba farms were also purchased, resulting in a huge land. The lands, which were large enough for a modern agricultural enterprise, were transformed into Gazi Orman Çiftliği.
