additions, any visitor’s “to-do” list of adventure is

Conquistadors, Pirates and Alligators, Oh My!
There’s so much to see and do throughout the
144-square block historic district. The Castillo
de San Marcos rises prominently above the
Oldest City. The Colonial Quarter takes you on
a journey through three centuries of Spanish
and British colonial life.
The St. Augustine Pirate and Treasure Museum
has the world’s largest collection of authentic
pirate artifacts and a “treasure hunt.” Climb 219
steps for an amazing view at the St. Augustine
Lighthouse and Maritime Museum. The
Fountain of Youth is more than legend, it is
the place where Pedro Menéndez founded St.
Augustine. Experience the gilded age at the
Lightner Museum, Villa Zorayda or a tour of the
Hotel Ponce de Leon, now Flagler College.

Wander through a museum of the bizarre
at the family-friendly Ripley’s Believe It or
Not! Museum. At St. Augustine’s Old Jail,
built in 1891, costumed “deputies” show you
cell blocks and the sheriff ’s quarters. The
Kids Krew Tour leads families through the
city as kids learn the history of pirates and
become part of the crew. Greet ocean friends
at Marineland Dolphin Adventure and the
St. Augustine Aquarium. The Medieval Torture
Collection is not for the faint of heart. And
the escape room at Escape U requires all your
puzzle solving skills to make your way out.
