The circa-1750 Pena-Peck house has been called home by
Spanish, British and American families. The first occupant
was Spanish Royal Treasurer Juan Esteban de Pena, and
later, it was the last official seat of the British government in
1785, in what is now the United States. The Peck family and
their descendants were the last to occupy the house and
did so for nearly a century from 1837 to 1931. Since 1932,
The Woman’s Exchange, founded in St. Augustine in 1892,
manages the Pena Peck House and also offers guided
tours and operates a gift shop, where you can purchase
American hand-crafted and specialty gift items.
