December 2 Gingerbread Man 10K / 5K Dash Get in the holiday spirit at this 10K, 5K and fun run at World Golf Village. Participants are encouraged to wear holiday attire. Pets are welcome. Participants of the 10K and 5K will receive a medal and t-shirt. Also, gingerbread cookies and food from PDQ and Tropical Smoothie Cafe will be available. December 2 Christmas Parade St. Augustine’ s annual Christmas Parade is one of the largest in North Florida with more than 2,000 people participating in the parade. The twohour parade includes floats, marching bands, cars, horses and the arrival of Santa. The parade starts at 9 a. m. by the Mission Nombre de Dios, 27 Ocean Ave., continues through the downtown streets of historic St. Augustine and ends near the parking garage, 1 Cordova St. 904-824-4779
December 2, 16, 27 & 30 Villa Zorayda Candlelight Tour with Refreshments Join Villa Zorayda this holiday season for its 8 th annual Candlelight Tour, which is offered on select evenings during St. Augustine’ s Nights of Lights. The museum is beautifully decorated for the holidays with a spectacular Christmas tree decorated in the colors of the Zorayda, red and gold. More than 100 candles are aglow throughout the museum. Arrive early to enjoy refreshments of homemade Christmas cookies, coffee and a special holiday punch. Refreshments are at 6 p. m., and the tour is at 6:30 p. m.( 5 p. m. and 5:30 p. m. on the 2 nd). General admission is $ 19.99. Admission for youth ages 7-12 is $ 9 and admission is free for youth ages 4-6. The tour is not recommended for youth ages 3 and under. December 2 St. Augustine Colonial Nightwatch Hosted by Historic Florida Militia St. Augustine Garrison, this event commemorates St. Augustine’ s Colonial period from 1739-1784. The Colonial Night Watch / St. Augustine Garrison is providing free admission to the Colonial Quarter, 33 St. George St., on Saturday. Inside the Colonial Quarter, there will be activities throughout the day, including tours, musket firing, demonstrations and a live 18th century encampment. Across the street, the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument, 1 S. Castillo Dr., will be active with 18th century musket and cannon firing during the day. In the evening, the beautiful Torchlight Parade will take place at 7 p. m. The parade route begins at the Castillo, processes down St. George Street and ends at the Governor’ s House Cultural Center & Museum, 48 King St. A proclamation will be given by the colonial governor, a volley of joy will be fired by the troops and the evening concludes with Christmas carols. 904-829-6506 www. hfm. club / nightwatch
