Veterans Day Ceremony
At 11 a.m., the Veterans Council of St. Johns County in conjunction
with the Florida National Guard and the Ancient City Chapter
of Military Officers Association of America host the city’s annual
Veterans Day Ceremony on Francis Field. Static displays, a firing
demonstration and re-enactors portray the continuum of
military protection provided the City from its inception in 1565

City of St. Augustine Beach Veteran’s Day Celebration
The City of St. Augustine Beach Veteran’s Day observance to honor
our veterans will take place from 3-5 p.m. at Lakeside Veterans’
Memorial Park. The event is free and open to the public and
refreshments will be served. The ceremony will be led by City of
St. Augustine Beach Mayor Andrea Samuels and will include an
honor guard, bagpipers, drummers, Veteran groups, Wounded

African-Americans in St. Augustine During the Civil War
As part of the Ideas and Images lecture series, Dr. Larry Rivers,
professor of history, Valdosta State University and former president
of Fort Valley State University, discusses “Rebels and Runaways:
African-Americans in St. Augustine During the Civil War.” The
