Rich in shore birds, the only way to access this ecological gem is via kayak. Species of interest found here include, Whimbrels, fledgling Bald Eagles, Northern Harriers, Black Bellied Plovers, Greater and Lesser Yellow Legs, Roseate Spoonbills, Gray Cat Birds, Purple Martins, Sandhill Cranes and many other species. The upland tree canopies also provide shelter for migratory birds going north for the summer.
