Portraits with Flash: Instruction and Demo | Photography Seminar

No. People: 30 | Difficulty Level: Beginner to Advanced This class is a step-by-step guide on how to use speed lights, or portable flash, to make an effective portrait, both in the studio and on location. Using flash is tricky, but the settings and exposure techniques are fully explained and demonstrated. The students learn how to make beautiful fill flash, how to use one light on camera for easy and simple portraits and how to use one off camera with radio remotes for more control with the direction of light. The participants will have hands-on experience working with the lights and various modifiers. Bobbi demos techniques while tethered to the computer.
Participants should have good camera skills and at least one flash that can be used TTL. No lighting experience is necessary. Suggested Gear List: Medium telephoto lens( 85mm or longer for full frame, 60mm or longer for crop frame), portable flash, any light modifiers and bring your manual!

Bobbi provides the photographer with essential lighting techniques and hands on supervised shooting time with models to help each individual. Imagine photographing horses running on one of the most beautiful beaches in St. Augustine in the early morning light. During this workshop, we’ ll cover how to photograph moving subjects, panning, stop motion, silhouettes, manual exposure, auto focus settings and much more. Led by Fuji Pros Bobbi Lane and Lee Varis. Suggested Gear List: DSLR( Full or cropped sensor), 24-70mm or similar lens, 70-200mm mid-zoom lens, lots of cards, bring your flash if you want to experiment!
