Light awareness is crucial to great photos, so we explore the mechanics of light and how to use camera settings to get the best possible images. Compositional balance and alternative cropping are discussed using artistic rules as a starting point, with personal creativity to follow. Flight / action techniques allow efficient capture of moving subjects, with compensation for white and dark subjects explained. Artistic freedom is the final topic covered.

Kevin shares important tips for action photography, including crucial awareness of lighting to maximize your success. Topics covered include: handheld versus tripods; proper exposure / camera settings for various conditions; subject acquisition; tracking and synchronous panning; manual exposure for quick light compensation; balancing white and dark subjects; artistic exposures and creative lighting. Each topic is explained with photos providing visual examples, often with camera settings. Knowledge of your camera is required.

After explaining crucial light awareness and how to properly expose white, neutral and dark subjects regardless of distracting or uncomplementary backgrounds, Kevin will work with each individual to suggest alternative composition and cropping of your subject and scene, with artistic input by each person encouraged. End your festival with something that encourages thinking outside the box. Suggested Gear List: DSLR( Full or cropped sensor), 70-200mm mid-zoom lens, 300mm or longer lens, Tripod.
