Mike Matthews started his passion for photography over 40 years ago and
has been shooting professionally for the last 11 years. His images have been
published and won numerous awards. Being an avid outdoorsman Mike uses his
outdoor skills to get close to wildlife and captures it with stunning photographs
that brings his audience along as if they were there.
Macro photography is one of Mike’s favorite ways to photograph, and
one of his greatest joys is teaching others how they can have similar results
photographing this small but beautiful world. So whether it is with a macro lens,
or using a telephoto lens to capture an Osprey in flight. Mike’s hope is that you

Please join professional photographer Mike Matthews in this unique and
informative workshop. You will have the opportunity to photograph 10-15
species of exotic reptiles and amphibians such as the red-eyed tree frog, brightly
colored poison dart frogs, and numerous lizards and snakes. All animals will be
placed in natural settings in a controlled environment with live plants, flowers,
leaves, and bark to produce stunning photographs that would be hard to

Gear List for Frog and Reptile Macro Workshops:
•Macro lens in 50 mm, 100mm, 180mm, or some other form of macro lens
•Extension tubes optional for the larger mm macro lens
•Ring Flash or a Macro Twin Flash preferred. An above camera flash can work
if you have some sort of diffuser that can spread out the light such as a light
bender from Rouge or a Gary Fong diffuser. Mike will have one of each of
these with him that he can loan out – another option is to rent a ring flash
from www.lensrentals.com
•Extra batteries for both camera and flashes
•Tripods are not needed for this workshop
