In This Issue:

While covering the IFBB Tijuana Pro in 2013 in Photo and video for Muscular Development I had the good fortune of shooting with and getting to know many of the competitors including Belinda Kiriakou. Of Korean ethnicity and Canadian by residency it was interesting in and of itself to find her and her husband making the rounds in Tijuana. The photos in this issue are from that weekend. Enjoy.

Belinda Kiriakou

I have always been very athletic from my elementary school days and played sports never dolls growing up. I was more like a tomboy - if wearing my brother’s basketball shorts and t-shirts fit the description. Physical activity was always a source of passion and my escapement for me from a young age, which then evolved into a deep love for health and fitness.

Growing up with an older sibling who suffers from Tourette's Syndrome, I learned to never judge the people around me and felt a sense of purpose to find a career where I would be a positive role model where I could teach people to be healthier and happier.

I myself, also suffering from multiple injuries from my sport playing from the age of 16 (herniated disc and ankles sprains), I came to the rude awakening that I can never take my health for granted. After several chiropractic visits, I took up yoga.

My initial encounter with yoga was not a "love at first experience" at all, rather I found it quite boring and uninteresting. It was in my years studying in University where my pain (nerve pain that shot down my right leg, resulting from my herniated disc) increased from the long hours of sitting and studying, where I felt the urgency to heal myself and joined a local gym.

This was where I met wonderful energetic yoga instructors who opened my world to a more positive and life-changing experience that included a daily practice of yoga. While I finished up my degree in Psychology, I became a certified personal trainer and yoga instructor.

Today, I happily operate my own gym, called Fight2BeFit in Toronto, Canada alongside my husband and coach, George Kiriakou. Here we coach, educate and motivate mothers, successful professionals, fitness competitors, teens and athletes to perform and feel at his/her best both physically and mentally at his/her best with customized training regimens and healthy meal plans fit for his/her needs.
