There are so many parents out there, not just mothers, who think they can't have a fit body after having a family. It definitely takes a little more creativity finding a balance between the gym and family, but it's achievable. Some of the greatest things in life are also some of the most challenging. But that doesn't mean they aren't worth pursuing. I enjoy being a good role model for my children. They are being raised by example that exercising their bodies is important and enjoyable.
What is your favorite part of modeling whether it be certain clothes, posing etc.?
The part about competing in fitness that I find the most difficult is the diet!! My children have a hard time understanding why mommy can't eat that French fry, indulge in a cupcake or splurge while on family
vacation. We have taken three family trips since I began training in February and have walked into many restaurants carrying my Tupperware of baked chicken, asparagus and sweet potato. It has yet to feel less
awkward. HAHA!! I'm a newbie to modeling. It's hard for me to get out of mommy mode and view myself as "just a woman". The posing and facial expressions feel completely unnatural. But I honestly enjoyed every moment. John Hawley made me feel so comfortable. By the end of the session I felt liberated. I walked away feeling like a sexy woman, not just a mom.
What is the place your would most like to shoot at? I love anyplace tropical. If I had to pick one location for a photo shoot I would have to say Bora Bora!!!
What would be your dream career if in the fitness industry? My dream career in the fitness industry is simply to inspire. Sure it would be great to earn my Pro card, model and be a known name in the fitness world. But I do and will continue to place more importance on changing people's lives, encouraging them to make healthier choices and taking care of their bodies. I am a pretty modest woman so being on stage in a bikini is completely out of my comfort zone, but that's exactly why I'm doing this. I decided if I continued to live in my safe little bubble, I would miss out on some pretty amazing life experiences. I have no idea if competing will take me anywhere but I will embrace this journey and continue to be thankful for the lessons I learn along the way.
Please name your top six favorite workout songs.
I do not have any specific songs I listen to while working out, but I am partial to Hip Hop Road Trip on Pandora.
What is your favorite non-athletic activity?
My non-athletic hobby is cake decorating. Probably not the greatest hobby to have, especially during peak week! I enjoy it though. It's my opportunity to be artistic.
