THE 1963 AUCTION

PART 1 : GOING ONCE, GOING TWICE, SOLD!

Cute boys –all dressed up – and delicious food, what more can you ask for? Mayfield High’s 1963 Basket-Boy Auction was a huge success. This annual fundraiser made tons of money for the booster club.

Twenty of Mayfield’s “finest young men” were selected and gathered into the schools auditorium. They were then auctioned off in front of the student body, to the highest bidding females.

“[The auction] is so humiliating” basket-boy Eddie Trulock said. “Yes, technically each one of us come with a lunch in a basket – but let’s not kid ourselves, this was a beefcake parade” Eddie explained. “My only hope was that a giant tornado would tear up the school before the big event.”

However, the main attraction here was Basket-Boy #9: Bryce Loski. Two of the hottest

girls in school - Melanie Hughes and Sherry Stalls – started a bidding war over him. They both had their eyes on the prize, and were in it to win it.

“Sherry even dumped her boyfriend (Mitch) just so that she could bid on Bryce” a student says.

Sherry placed the winning bid of $50; she now holds the school record for the highest bid ever made in a Basket-Boy Auction. The booster club was more than grateful for her generous donation.

“Whatever. I don’t care” says Melanie. Many students noticed her glaring at Sherry, and giving her dirty looks after the auction.

“The booster club is more than happy with the turn out of this event, and we are so excited for next year’s auction” said Ms. McClure (head of the booster club).
