The Soundtrack Howard Shore’s score for the official soundtrack of Spotlight might be one of my all time favorites. Simple piano blues that plays in the background in almost every scene keeps the audience intact. The tempo associated with the soundtrack corresponds well with the pace of the film, which makes even the most mundane tasks that take place in the everyday operations of a newspaper look interesting. The Detailing The actors weren’t the only people that paid incredible attention to detail, the film does it as a whole. The time line of the film spawns over the years 2001 and 2002. A period which marked the growth of modern America, but not the modernism of the digital age that we are used to. The detailing paid to the usage of technology from that period, the language used, the pop culture references and the references to historical events like the 9/11 Attacks gives the film the authenticity that it needs. The emotional upheaval that the characters go through after the 9/11 attacks while still having to deal with the issue at hand, and the small tributes paid by them were captured on screen through subtle detailing. Spotlight is a treat for people with an eye for Easter eggs. - Guru Nicketan PAGE 33 FLICK 2018
