Dr. Jeffrey Goldberg gave the Board an update on changes to the Centralized Application Processing Service( CAPS) which issues credentials to physicians in the region. Dr. Goldberg has volunteered as a consultant for GLMS to help right the CAPS boat as the service is reimagined from the ground up. Estimates within the organization are anticipating an early autumn release of a whole new credentialing program using the latest technology.“ The current staff is running processes to the best of their ability, but it’ s like asking them to run a bus company and only giving them horse and buggies,” said Dr. Goldberg who, along with GLMS representatives, met with leaders of the major hospital systems in Louisville to inform them of the major changes coming.“ We have a good sense of what success looks like.”

GLMS Public Relations & Membership Specialist McKenna Byerley gave the annual membership report. Statistics from this report include:
- GLMS membership has increased by 194 since late 2016
- Total membership is currently 3,580 with 2,012 active.
- 100 % of both Baptist Health and KentuckyOne physicians are members.
- 88 % of Norton Healthcare and 49 % of UL Physicians are members.
- There are 59 members who are delinquent on their membership dues as of today.

The Board passed a motion to drop the members who are delinquent. Those physicians will receive a notification that they have been dropped as a GLMS member but with encouragement to join again in the near future.

The GLMS Foundation will host a happy hour event for physicians at Against the Grain Brewery on June 15 from 5 to 7 p. m. More information will be sent to physicians soon, so be on the lookout!

Incoming President-Elect Wayne Tuckson, MD, reported that the Health Department is working to create a CME course dedicated to education on prescribing opiates.

Erica Sutton, MD, founder of Surgery on Sunday Louisville, Inc., reported the organization continues to grow. Two facilities in Indiana are interested in hosting Surgery on Sunday events, and interest has spread to Alabama and Massachusetts. Surgery on Sunday Louisville, Inc. was recently named as an Honoree recipient of the 2017“ 80 % by 2018 National Achievement Award,” an award created by the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable to recognize individuals and organizations who are dedicating their time, talent and expertise to advancing needed initiatives that support the shared goal to regularly screen 80 % of adults 50 and over by 2018.

Before the meeting came to an end, Dr. Couch thanked the Board for its service and said,“ We were a great organization 3 years ago and we’ re a great organization today. Thank you for everything you’ re doing for our society. I know we’ re in good hands.”
