On March 2 nd, GLMS hosted the 8 th annual Career Chats( Specialty Speed Networking event) in which young medical students meet with established physicians to discover more about what specialties interest them.
GLMS President John Roberts, MD, welcomed the students to the event and encouraged them to ask probing questions of the physicians who had volunteered their time. The event itself was held at the Abell Administration Building on the U of L School of Medicine’ s campus. For nearly two hours, students had the ear of leading physicians in the Louisville area.
Reporting to the Board of Governors the following week, Dr. Roberts praised the event.“ We had nine specialties and 34 students present. There was a lot of energy and a lot of excitement. Students often doubled back to talk to the specialties that most interested them. It was a very successful evening.”
