GLMS FOUNDATION
COMMEMORATES
WALTER S. COE, MD
GLMS past president (‘70-’71) and cardiologist, the late Walter
Slater Coe, MD, was honored this month with the naming of the
Old Medical School Building’s Museum Room made possible by a
donation from his son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Christe Coe.
The Walter S. Coe, MD, Museum Room will memorialize Dr. Coe for
his contributions to modern medicine. Dr. Coe created the first heart
catheterization lab in Kentucky and was a respected advocate for
medical student scholarships and medical ethics in Louisville. The
GLMS Foundation led by President Thomas Reichard, MD, was
pleased to honor Dr. Coe’s legacy in this special way.
