Mark Carter, Passport Health CEO, presented exciting plans to the Board about the organization’ s planned relocation to a new structure to be built at the corner of 18 th and Broadway in Louisville.“ We’ re thinking about our model and how can we have a real impact on health while addressing social determinants and supporting primary care physicians,” he said, estimating that the first phase of the building would be completed in January 2020.

Following the presentation, the Board discussed submitting potential physicians for an opportunity to have a voice on the Passport Partnership Council.

GLMS Secretary Monalisa Tailor, MD, reported that so far 1,250 physicians have paid their dues for 2018. Dues become delinquent in March so if you have not yet paid for your upcoming membership, please do so by visiting www. glms. org.

Vice-President Frank Burns, MD, spoke to the Board about a payment reduction in Anthem Insurance’ s Modifier 25. This will have major implications for physicians and patients enrolled in Anthem. See page 3 for detailed information about Modifier 25.

GLMS Member & Client Services Director Jessica Williams gave an update on the launch of the new MedCentral credentialing service.“ Our database is live,” she said, noting that GLMS has already hosted six training sessions for credentialing specialists and medical staff in recent weeks. Requests have been made to take the training off-site for larger groups.“ Every month when we mailed out applications, it was a three or four day process. It took me two hours with the new system. We are very excited,” Williams said.

The Board voted to fund videographer Reid Olsen’ s accompaniment of GLMS Foundation members on their annual trip to Nicaragua in January. The trip will provide hours upon hours of promotional media content for the Foundation and be an incredible marketing tool for future endeavors.“ This could be an awesome thing which creates a lot of buzz and excitement for the Foundation,” said GLMS President Rob Zaring, MD, MMM.“ It allows someone to go behind the scenes and capture all the good our Foundation is doing.”

Department of Public Health & Wellness Director Sarah Moyer, MD, had two announcements. The first was that Louisville’ s 2017 Health Equity Report was recently published and is available at www. healthequityreport. com. The second announcement was that Louisville has recently seen an outbreak of Hepatitis A with 32 cases reported since August. Efforts are being taken to educate physicians and vaccinate all at-risk individuals possible. Visit www. glms. org for a link to recommendations for providers during the current outbreak.

GLMS Vice-President Frank Burns, MD, announced that he would soon participate in Surgery on Sunday, offering cataract surgeries for extreme cases who couldn’ t afford the procedure.

The Healing Place President Karyn Hascal spoke to the Board, telling them that the facility had begun offering new outpatient services for three to four months. The new Men’ s Campus Capital Campaign needs only $ 5 million more to reach its goal, construction is already well underway.
