MEDICAID IMPORTANT CHANGE – MEMBER DISENROLLMENT Effective August 17, 2015, Medicaid will begin enforcing new requirements on member address updates. When Kentucky Medicaid receives undeliverable/returned mail that was sent to a Medicaid member, they will terminate Medicaid coverage for that member by the end of the following month unless the member updates his/her address with Kentucky Medicaid. For example, if returned mail is received on August 20, 2015, the member must update their address by October 1, 2015, or risk being disenrolled in Medicaid. It is important for providers to verify member eligibility using KyHealth Net at http://www.chfs.ky.gov/dms/kyhealth.htm. Physicians may ask Medicaid patients if they have moved recently and remind them that they are required to update their address to stay covered with a Medicaid Managed Care Organization (MCO). Practices can help patients avoid losing Medicaid coverage due to an address change by informing them of this new change and reminding them to contact the Department for Medicaid Services each time their address changes. The Managed Care Organizations are not permitted to update the members address. Kentucky Medicaid maintains the member eligibility file and will only accept an address update from the member or authorized representative.
