GLMS FOUNDATION REACHING OUT ABROAD AND AT HOME A diverse group of physicians, nurses and health care volunteers will soon visit Managua, Nicaragua, to bring essential medical care and supplies to local citizens. The annual trip is sponsored by the GLMS Foundation in partnership with Hand in Hand Ministries, a Louisville non-profit which operates the Pathway to Change program for the underprivileged in Nicaragua. The trip will take place January 17-24, 2016. While it is too late to sign up for the annual mission trip this year, there are many needs locally and regionally where physicians have the opportunity to make a difference. For example, the GLMS Foundation invited attorneys, financial advisors and physicians to a reception at the Old Medical School on November 3 to explore estate planning and donation opportunities for increased preservation of the The Foundation’s estate planning reception Old Medical School building and Foundation support and other charitable activities. For more information, we invite you to contact GLMS Foundation Director Terry Todd by emailing [email protected] or calling 502-736-6356. GLMS ROUNDTABLE A SUCCESS Representatives from Humana, Anthem and United Healthcare visited the Old Medical School building on Oct. 29 for the multi-payer roundtable. The morning session gave office managers the chance to talk face-to-face with payers and ask patient care questions. The event was coordinated by the GLMS Physician Education and Practice Support (PEPS) Department, which hosts multi-payer roundtables throughout the year to better facilitate communication between health care providers and physicians. To report a claim discrepancy or customer service issue, please contact GLMS at [email protected]. GLMS NEWS NOVEMBER 2015 Representatives from Humana, Anthem and United Healthcare were on hand to talk face-to-face with payers. 3
