GLMS TO HOST MEDICAID MCO
ROUNDTABLE
In 2013, Kentucky Medicaid recipients and Providers in Region 3
(Louisville and 15 surrounding counties) went from having one MCO
option to four: Coventry Cares, Humana, Passport and WellCare.
Due in large part to the decision to expand Medicaid to individuals
with incomes up to 138 percent of the Federal Poverty Level in 2014,
the number of adults and children with Medicaid increased from an
average enrollment of 843,586 in 2013 to 1.17 million in 2014.
GLMS worked diligently to provide education and support to physician members and their practices during that transition and beyond
by hosting town hall meetings before the implementation and regular
roundtables since that time. Issues which have been discussed at
the roundtable meetings include proper billing, prior authorizations, prompt pay, appeals processes and formulary and medical
policy differences.
The Medical Society will be hosting an upcoming Medicaid MCO
Roundtable on March 5, 2015 at 7:00 a.m. at The Old Medical School
Building.
Representatives from Anthem Medicaid, Coventry Cares, Humana
CareSource, Passport Health Plan, WellCare and the Department
for Medicaid Services will be in attendance. In order for all of the
payers to have an opportunity to be heard, each will be allotted a
20 minute timeframe in which to address questions and issues that
were submitted to GLMS prior to the meeting and to answer any ad-
ditional questions from the audience as time permits. Practices are
encouraged to submit issues to be addressed at the Roundtable
by February 23 to [email protected] or call 7366350. Individual claims-specific issues will not be addressed openly
but representatives have been asked to remain available after the
meeting to talk one-on-one with interested members.
Last year’s roundtable received very positive feedback from all who
attended. Please add this date to your calendar and share with
the appropriate representatives in your practice. This roundtable
provides an opportunity for GLMS members and their staff to speak
to the MCO Representatives, ask questions and learn what other
practices are experiencing with Medicaid payers.
Please RSVP to [email protected] or 502-736-6354.
