Bynx: global supplier, global view

WORDS BY GARY JEFFERIES, DIRECTOR, BYNX

When two disparate marketplaces face the same challenge; it’ s important the suppliers you choose have the right tools to overcome your challenges

One solution – multiple markets
Bynx effectively provides the same solution to fleet leasing companies and fleet management suppliers across the world.
Whether that’ s in the most mature regions or those emerging markets that Bynx supports, Bynx has the benefit of a global view of change affecting the current fleet landscape
Mature markets like Australia with its large percentage of novated salary sacrifice / packaged lease deals. A market where global fleet management companies work with employers and employees to finance vehicles. And, where the swathe of incoming Chinese vehicles is muddying the waters, particularly in terms of residual values.
Global fleet company Arval continued to show strong growth, with its overall financed fleet up 5.7 %. However, gross operating income fell 23.5 % year-on-year with the blame being placed on weaker used vehicle sales due to global uncertainty, rising fuel prices and the effect on used car values. See this article for a longer description.
Or whether it’ s markets like New Zealand where fleet penetration isn’ t as deep, and purchase routes are often much simpler with hardly any novated lease deals. Focus is on more straightforward vehicle funding through traditional operating leases, finance leases, or direct corporate capital purchases.
Why Modularity matters in a digital world
When a factor as fundamental as buying and paying for vehicles is so different from country to country, it’ s important that the digital solution has been through the changes and has inherent configurability to meet them. Over the 35 + years Bynx has been providing fleet solutions; all the changes have been seen firsthand and then built into the software.
Take the AU where novated lease vehicle residual burden is landing predominantly on the driver( in the shape of balloon payments) and where the minimum residual values are strictly controlled and benchmarked by the Australian Tax Office( ATO).
Or whether commercial leasing companies across ANZ bear the primary asset residual value risk. And where residual forecasting and vehicle disposal responsibilities land on fleet management companies.
A flexible, modular, and highly configurable software solution is one that thrives across market types and maturity levels and can comfortably handle all of the different scenarios that arise across markets, and across fleets within those markets. The same way no two markets are the same; no two fleets have the same needs and in-house strengths and weaknesses within those disparate markets.
