Building a Career with Purpose, Theresa shares lessons from her career on purposeful leadership, resilience, authenticity and wellbeing. Her experiences provide valuable reminders that professional development is not simply about progressing a career, but about building the skills and mindset needed to lead effectively in an evolving industry.
As an organisation, AfMA continues to provide opportunities for both personal and professional development. We believe that regardless of your role or the industry in which you operate, continuing education, knowledge sharing and networking can play an important role in building capability and advancing your career.
AfMA’ s Professional Development Forums( PDFs) continue throughout 2026, with breakfast and lunch events being held across the country. These forums provide an opportunity to hear from industry experts about issues affecting fleet and automotive professionals, while also connecting with peers and sharing practical knowledge.
The FREE 2026 Personal Development Series, sponsored by Isuzu UTE, is also open for registration. This year ' s series focuses on Emotional Intelligence and how it can help you thrive in demanding environments. Across the series, we explore how emotions, thinking patterns and values influence performance, decision making and wellbeing under pressure. These sessions are open to everyone, whether you work in fleet and automotive or another industry, so feel free to share them with your colleagues, friends and family.
The Personal Development Learning Library, sponsored by Isuzu UTE, is also available free to all AfMA members. The library provides access to a range of online courses designed to support personal and professional development across different levels of management and industries. Valued at $ 60,000, it provides an excellent opportunity for members to continue building their skills at their own pace.
As always, I would like to thank our members, suppliers and partners for their continued support of AfMA and the wider fleet industry. I would also like to acknowledge our corporate partners Pedders Suspension & Brakes, Geotab, RedBook, Zurich Resilience Solutions, NRMA, WEX, and Pickles for their ongoing support and contribution to AfMA.
I encourage you to explore the articles and insights in this edition and consider how the ideas discussed can be applied within your own organisation. Safety is a shared responsibility, and every improvement, whether through better policies, technology, training or simply a stronger safety culture, can make a meaningful difference.
