Executive Director’ s Report

Welcome to the December 2025 edition of FleetDrive!
As we close another busy year in fleet and automotive, this edition turns our attention to the people who keep our industry moving. Technical skills are vital, but the way we learn, grow and support one another is just as important.
Professional and personal development is a steady process that shapes stronger leaders, safer operations, and more resilient teams.
In this issue, we explore how soft skills add value to technical roles, how personal branding can strengthen career growth, and how managers can navigate generational differences across fleet teams. These topics reflect the real challenges and opportunities professionals in our industry face each day.
The pace of change in technology, safety requirements and customer expectations continues to rise. To keep up, we need people who communicate well, adapt quickly, and build positive relationships across their organisations.
Our 2025 Personal Development Series, proudly sponsored by Isuzu UTE, centred on Stronger Together: The Power of Synergy over seven sessions with thousands of people tuning in for personal growth.
For organisations looking to provide ongoing learning, our Personal Development Learning Library offers a virtual hub of free courses designed to enhance professional, personal and organisational skills. This non-fleet / automotive resource is suitable for all employees and allows you and your team to strengthen capabilities, build confidence and apply new strategies at home and in everyday work. Further information can be found here. This library of courses can be hosted on your organisations learning management system for free, so cost is no barrier for growth!
AfMA also offers unique opportunities such as the AfMA Study Tour to the USA in February 2026, giving fleet professionals the chance to learn from global best practices and gain fresh insights into fleet management. More information can be found here.
Looking ahead to 2026, enrolments are now open for the Diploma of Leadership and Management, contextualised for the fleet and automotive sectors. Participants will gain new skills and strategies to boost their qualifications and expertise. AfMA also offers several paid and partially paid scholarships each year. More information on the Diploma and scholarships can be found here.
