himself, Bumblebee. Hailing from Japan, the Transformers media franchise began as an animated series that aired from 1984 to 1987. Combining designs from Japan and storytelling written by Marvel Comics, the series is one of the first in animation’ s robot genre to soar to popularity.
Any kid who was glued to the TV at that time was in awe of this space-travelling band of robot-vehicles. Though there are several members that represent different vehicle models, Bumblebee, looks the most unique. Unlike his comrades who transform into trucks, Porsches, and Lamborghinis, Bumblebee transforms into a smaller vehicle, namely a bright yellow Volkswagen Beetle. This secondary form allows him to stand out from the rest of the group and indicates a younger, even funnier type of character.
In the 2007 reboot, Bumblebee is the first Autobot to be discovered by the film’ s main character. He’ s the Autobot the audience spends the most time with and serves as both occasional comic relief and heart of the film. His unique name, form, and amount of screen time allowed the film franchise to spawn a Bumblebee-centred prequel in 2018.
When one thinks of Transformers, the easiest to come to mind is Bumblebee or“ the yellow one,” to those unfamiliar with the franchise.
