Executive Director’ s Report
Mace Hartley Executive Director
Welcome to the August 2025 edition of FleetDrive.
This month, we focus on the foundation of every successful fleet: safety. Protecting drivers, vehicles, and the community requires more than compliance. Fleets need the right tools, technologies, and behaviours to create a culture where safety comes first.
In this issue, you’ ll hear from our 2025 Fleet Safety Award winner Sodexo, who share their safety journey including initiatives, challenges, and the outcomes that earned them national recognition.
We will explore how behaviour-based safety apps are reshaping driver rewards and accountability and you will also find insights into the latest innovations in tyres, brakes, and vehicle checks, alongside a data-driven look at the top-rated vehicle safety technologies from Monash University research.
Furthermore, we tackle the broader challenges that shape fleet safety: from the hidden risks of car data privacy to Russell White’ s call for a bio-mechanical rethink of driver training, we explore how safety extends into technology, behaviour, and policy.
Our Women in Fleet focus continues as Drew Schnehage talks to us about the importance of empowering women in fleet management.
Our second session of Empowering Women in the Workplace is being held Sept 11th in conjunction with Swinburne Edge- Swinburne University of Technology. Participants of the first session recorded a 20 % uplift in confidence and 30 % uplift in clarity of career goals. For more info on how to empower yourself and your team, click here
