2 . Reassure people on battery life Industry stakeholders , including auctioneers and dealerships , have a critical role to play in rapidly developing an effective and reliable framework to deliver trusted and consistent battery health information .
European markets , particularly through initiatives like the European Car Remarketing Association ( CARA ), have implemented industry-wide battery certification standards . These provide transparent State of Health ( SOH ) reports , boosting buyer confidence .
In Europe , 81 % of used car buyers consider SOH certification a key trust factor , and 75 % refuse to purchase without it .
In Australia , auction houses are piloting similar programs and reporting that buyers are willing to pay higher prices for vehicles with battery health certification . NSW Government is seeking to collaborate with industry to help develop reliable and recognised certification systems for battery health . This will help increase confidence for Australian consumers seeking to buy a second-hand EV .
3 . Work collaboratively The development of the secondary market will take a coordinated effort from industry and government .
