Welcome to the February 2025 edition of FleetDrive , AfMa ’ s bi-monthly e-magazine where we share the latest in the fleet and automotive industries !
We ’ re off to an exciting start this year as the fleet and automotive industries face new opportunities and challenges . For the first issue of the year , we ’ re looking at everything that ’ s shaping the industry across Australasia--from key industry outlook , new regulations , advanced technology , and shifting focus in safety and sustainability , and more !
Electric vehicle ( EV ) adoption continues to move into second gear . While wider access to charging infrastructure is still a challenge , emerging technologies and government support are making things easier . In line with sustainability efforts , the New Vehicle Efficiency Standard , a policy that mandates and annual limit on tailpipe CO2 emissions per kilometre for new vehicles at the company-level has began implementation at the beginning of the year . The scheme aims to encourage the adoption of hybrids , electric vehicles ( EVs ), and other low-emission options .
Furthermore , fleet management in general is becoming more data driven . Telematics and AI are helping organisations track vehicle efficiency , driver habits , and operational costs at a much more efficient level . New tools are also now available to help protect drivers on the road including fatigue monitoring systems and driver assistance technologies .
At the same time , supply chain issues and economic challenges continue to push businesses and organisations to find smarter ways to manage costs and improve operations .
As an organisation , AfMA continues to pursue our mission of Linking People and Knowledge , Creating Outcomes and so we continue to offer personal and professional development opportunities for members and non-members alike . We believe that regardless of your role in your organisation and whichever industry you may be in , you can benefit from online and in-person events , programs and other offerings .
