Rod ’ s biggest breakthrough in terms of personal development is learning his DiSC profile . (“ Disc ? Like a CD ?” I asked , cluelessly . It was the first time I ’ d heard of the concept and thought he meant a self-development program distributed through CDs .)
DiSC refers to a “ personal assessment tool ” where individuals are rated on four main traits : Dominance , influence , Steadiness , and Conscientiousness . This assessment tool seeks to boost self-awareness and develop an individual ’ s soft skills in professional settings . For Rod , it was the discovery of this aspect of himself that helped him improve his leadership and communication skills .
