Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation ( MFTBC ) has unveiled the eCanter SensorCollect , a groundbreaking partially automated electric garbage truck , in collaboration with Japan ’ s Ministry of the Environment .
This demonstration , part of the ‘ Creating a Resource Recycling System Using Digital Technology Toward a Decarbonised Society ’ project , was held from November 10 to 22 , 2023 , in Kawasaki City . The vehicle features SAE Level 2 automation , enhancing operational efficiency and reducing the driver ’ s workload .
The eCanter SensorCollect is equipped with an automatic tracking system that follows a pre-set route , improving garbage collection efficiency . It uses sensors to monitor garbage weight , volume , and collection frequency , transmitting this data to disposal facilities for better management .
The truck can be operated remotely to avoid obstacles and enhance safety , while its safety features , including collision damage reduction brakes , align with Japan ’ s 2050 carbon neutrality goal . MFTBC plans to further develop and expand this technology .
Microchip Technology has unveiled three new flexible and scalable electric vehicle ( EV ) charger reference designs to support diverse regional requirements . The new designs include a Single-Phase AC Residential charger , a Three-Phase AC Commercial model with Open Charge Point Protocol ( OCPP ) and System-on-Chip ( SoC ), and another Three-Phase AC Commercial charger with OCPP and Display .
These reference designs streamline the development process by providing complete hardware design files , source code , and software stacks compliant with communication protocols like OCPP , which ensures interoperability between different networks and vendors . The Single-Phase AC Residential model offers a cost-effective solution for home charging , while the Three-Phase AC models cater to commercial needs with enhanced features such as remote management via Wi-Fi SoC and a robust graphical user interface for public stations .
Microchip ’ s solutions aim to accelerate the time to market for EV chargers by offering comprehensive support , including hardware , software , and technical assistance .
