Fiona : Can you explain how fleet managers can use Fleetyr ’ s analytics dashboards to identify risky drivers , enforce safer driving habits ?
Tim : The benefit of Fleetyr is we use and clean the fleet manager ’ s own hardware and software stack . We automatically pull , combine , clean , and structure their data to make it far more valuable and easier to analyze .
Of Fleetyr ’ s 16 dashboards , eight are designed for driver behaviour monitoring , and their benefits range from uncovering surface-level anomalies ( e . g . “ Why was the vehicle driven outside of work hours ?”) to more granular individual drivers or assets .
On average , we add a new dashboard to the Fleetyr template every month , and this is based on feedback from our customers . These templates are built and added into the customer ’ s existing analytics environment ( most of which are Power BI or Tableau ), which means there isn ’ t yet another thing that they have to log into or learn to use . Our dashboard templates come with all the clean and structured data , so if the templates don ’ t give the customer exactly what they need to see , they can build their own clean data .
Fiona : Can Fleetyr reveal any trends in driver behavior that could lead to accidents or impact productivity ?
Tim : Yes – finding those most significant risktakers is the purpose of our analytics and integrations when it comes to driver behaviours . We are here to help uncover the relevant anomalies in the millions of rows of data you receive and work with daily .
I have mentioned a couple of interesting facts already seen in our combined data from fleet managers , but another notable one is that nearly 40 % of overspeed events occur before 11 AM . From this insight , a fleet manager found that 4-5 of their drivers were speeding heavily before 9 AM . As it turned out , they were all parents who were dropping their kids off and then rushing to get to work . The fleet manager did a pretty cool thing and suggested to the Health and Safety team that they let those staff members start work at a later time so that they no longer feel they need to rush or take risks around speed .
Fiona : How can Fleetyr help fleet managers identify drivers that require specific feedback or training to improve their behaviour on the road ?
Tim : Combining poor driver behaviour events from telematics with other sources of data like HR software is a great way of identifying drivers who are most in need of feedback or additional training . Your HR software can then let you know who has not completed their training , or missed certain checks and balances . Combining this with driver behaviour data will reveal employees who are most in need or require intervention .
Fiona : Can you share any success stories or case studies where Fleetyr significantly improved driver behavior and safety for a client ?
Tim : My favourite is a construction company in the US we have worked with for about a year . They had five different telematics providers and a range of other data sources , including fuel cards , ERP systems , tolls , maintenance , and cameras .
First , it was important to identify all their telematics devices that were not working or not calibrated properly via our Utilisation and Telematics analytics dashboard . They used Fleetyr to reveal that 30 % of the fleet ’ s telematics were faulty , removed without knowledge or miscalibrated . It enabled the fleet manager to clean up the situation accordingly and ensure the safety data was clean and usable moving forward .
The fleet manager was also able to identify everything from fuel card misuse , to high-risk drivers , to staff using company equipment on the weekends for cash jobs , to staff spending hours idling in their company vehicles at NFL tailgate parties . Once the first driver was made an example of , behaviour dramatically changed across the organisation , and many assets were subsequently sold as they turned out to be underutilised . So , not bad for a couple of bucks a month per asset .
Fiona : This all sounds really great but how can Fleetyr help fleet managers ensure compliance with industry safety standards and regulations ?
Tim : We can further enrich analytics with third party datasets . For example , we bring
