Changing Driver Behaviour and Improving Safety Through Technology

WORDS BY FIONA PERRIN , SENIOR RISK ENGINEER , ZURICH RESILIENCE SOLUTIONS
With driver behaviour coming under increasing scrutiny , Fiona Perrin , Senior Risk Engineer with Zurich Resilience Solutions caught up with Tim Hill , Founder and CEO of Fleetyr , who is striving to use data and technology to improve driver performance and safety .
Fiona : Hi Tim , thanks for joining us today . Can you perhaps begin by describing what it is that Fleetyr does ?
Tim : To put it simply , you can think of Fleetyr as the plumbers and cleaners of the mobility world . What this means is that we use whatever data sources the customer has , such as telematics , maintenance , fuel and energy , IOT , and any other hardware or software , and then connect and clean all that data so that the customer can easily integrate it into other software , or alternatively we push that data into analytics and reporting dashboards . This enables fleet managers to spend less time and resources manually
sorting through all their various fleet data , and more time reviewing their fleet performance dashboards to identify anomalies and risks in their fleet operations . We now have integration options across nearly 100 of the world ’ s top fleet hardware and software products , which allows fleet managers to quickly integrate and adopt Fleetyr into their ecosystem and hit the ground running .
Fiona : How can fleet managers utilise data to identify and address risky driving behaviors ?
Tim : There is a range of hardware and software available in the market that can help identify and address risky driving behaviour . We have found that access to clean , connected , and accurate data is the first and most crucial step in planning your driver safety and behaviour strategy . When your data is correct , you can guarantee that your subsequent decision-making will also be correct .
