FLEETDRIVE
So organisations are now looking to meet both safety and sustainability goals through their journey scheduling and planning , fleet vehicles , and their drivers . There can be challenges with this , but through effective policies , including around procurement of vehicles , safety , and sustainability , measures such as driver training , incorporating appropriate technology , and analysing data to identify and address issues , organisations can have fleets that are both safe and sustainable .
Through our fleet safety work , we ’ ve seen organisations put a range of measures in place to address work-related road risk . Whilst technologies like telematics have been around for some time , and we increasingly see organisations employing these technologies , more recently many are introducing additional measures to tackle issues like fatigue and distraction , such as using in-vehicle cameras .
Many organisations have access to data about their fleet from multiple sources . It ’ s important to use this data to help you identify and address issues , for example identifying the risk level of your drivers , or any issues with particular routes or times of day . From identified trends you can target your interventions , such as implementing measures to reward good driving and address poor driving , or looking at changes to journey routes or scheduling .
Brake is a road safety charity working to prevent road deaths and injuries and make communities safer and providing free support to people affected by crashes .
