FLEETDRIVE oversee vehicle movement , track equipment locations , and keep an eye on unforeseen issues on the road in real-time using a computer or a smartphone .
Autonomous driving technology is also on the rise as brands like Bosch and Comma . ai offering hands-free parking systems , autonomous braking systems , and driver behaviour monitoring .
Other in-vehicle tech that we ’ ll be seeing more this year include advanced cruise control , precise navigation apps , in-car air purification , and even street pollution analysis .
Supply Chains Will Still Be Unreliable
Much like last year , we ’ re likely to see supply chain issues in 2022 . While manufacturers are doing their best to meet global demand , it might still be a long time before production goes back to pre-pandemic levels .
The supply chain shortage in the previous year led many businesses and organisations to postpone the replacement of ageing models in their fleets . This year , supply chain issues will continue to impact the transportation and fleet industries so operators need to focus on placing factory orders and considering that deliveries might still take a long time .
Fleet operators should also prioritise vehicle and tyre maintenance to prevent potential breakdowns and to extend the lifespan of your current cars while waiting for new supplies to come in . Promoting good driver behaviour will also help reduce the wear and tear vehicles will experience .
EV Expansions
Purchase of electric vehicles are expected to rise in 2022 . With ongoing carbon emission initiatives going in full swing together with incentives introduced by state governments to support their uptake , more organisations will be seeing EVs as a viable addition to their fleet .
While the cost of acquisition is still high right now , more alternatives will be coming to the Australian market which will expand the choices for consumers . More than 50 electric and hybrid models are expected to arrive this year and the competition will only help in driving down the cost of EVs .
More EV infrastructure is also expected to be funded and built across Australian states and territories . In New South Wales alone , more than 1,000 charging stations are expected to be built over the course of four years starting in mid- 2022 .
The fleet industry is an ever evolving one . For fleet managers , this means constantly fine-tuning our strategies and finding the right technology to keep our fleets running smoothly and safely . How do you plan to keep your fleet in top shape this year ?
